Status:
5/08: SPI repaired, back in service.
7/10/07: SPI charger damaged again, and our of service. Click here for photos. Copnductive charger is also damaged, but might be usable.
9/3/06: Damaged SPI charger has been replaced with new Toyota charger. 120V receptacle removed.
2/25/06: Temporary repairs have succeeded in getting the SPI working again.
12/18/05: The Avcon charging station is powered on and working, although it still does not talk. The 120V outlet has no power. We are working with the City of Davis to repair the SPI and repower the 120V outlet.
12/17/05: City of Davis has turned off the power to the SPI and wrapped the charger with yellow caution tape.
12/14/05: SPI has been vandalized. Paddle handle is broken. Charger still works, but needs special care to insert paddle.
2/21/05: SPI reported OK now.
11/7/04: SPI charger has power, but is down with E6 DELAY error. Reported to CFCI for repair.
4/15/04: Darell Dickey reports that power here goes off periodically, and is reset by the City electrician. Off one week, on the next. Investigating. It's on at present.
11/5/03: the Davis train station charger is back working. -- Eugen Dunlap
11/03/03: I noticed last week that there seems to be no power to the chargers at the train station. Reported to City of Davis. --Eugen Dunlap
8/29/03: Speaker on EVII Avcon box is inoperative, but the unit is working.
7/1/03: circuit breaker for inductive charger was tripped, and was reset by City of Davis electrician.
6/03: Darell Dickey and Eugen Dunlap report that ICEing is now rare.
1/19/03: Darell Dickey: EV parking spots are almost always blocked by conventional vehicles during normal business hours. Darell is working on enforcement of the EV only parking signs.
11/22/02: The small paddle charger was vandalized. It has since been repaired.

Driving directions:
From I 80, take the Richards Blvd. Exit north. Get into the center lane -- avoid the right turn only lane. Take a slight right at the end of Richards Blvd. onto E Street, then right on 2nd Street. Continue on 2nd Street into the Amtrak parking lot. Cross the tracks, then turn left. Charger is on your left, against the block wall.

Things to do:
There are many, many restaurants, banks, and shops (including Tower Records) in the immediate vicinity, along G Street, F Street, and 2nd Street. There is a theater at 4th and G. While I was charging here, I got my hair cut. Charger supply voltage appears to be 240. Great location. Davis City Parking Garage, 4th and G, another charging location, is quite nearby. -- Tom Dowling 3/20/99
